Join the Nomadic Bear Response and Urban Safety Coalition: Where Your Passion Meets Purpose

Are you passionate about wildlife and community safety? Do you want to make a tangible difference in your local environment? Nomadic Bear Response and Urban Safety Coalition (NBRUSC) is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our team in Evergreen and Boulder, Colorado. Be part of a dynamic organization that tracks and guides bears back to their natural habitats, ensuring the safety of both wildlife and our community members.


Who We Are

NBRUSC is a volunteer-driven organization committed to managing bear sightings in urban areas. Our mission is to protect both bears and residents by guiding these majestic animals back to the mountains, reducing the risk of human-wildlife conflicts.


Volunteer Positions Available


  • Bear Tracker and Public Safety Coordinator
    • Roles: Respond to alerts of bear sightings, follow the bears in designated vehicles, and ensure they return safely to the mountains. Alert the public (joggers, people with small kids and pets) about bear sightings and guide them to safety. Distribute educational materials about living in bear country.
    • Requirements: Must be comfortable driving and navigating through urban and rural areas. Knowledge of local wildlife behavior is a plus.
    • Training: Comprehensive training on bear behavior, tracking techniques, and safety protocols will be provided.


  • Alert Response Team Member
    • Role: Monitor the alert system for bear sightings and dispatch the Bear Tracker and Public Safety Coordinator teams. Maintain records of bear sightings and responses.
    • Requirements: Strong organizational skills and the ability to work quickly under pressure.
    • Training: Training on the alert system, dispatch procedures, and record-keeping will be provided.


  • Community Outreach Volunteer
    • Role: Engage with the community to raise awareness about NBRUSC's mission. Attend local events, manage social media platforms, and assist with fundraising efforts.
    • Requirements: Enthusiasm for community engagement and experience with social media or event planning.
    • Training: Training on community outreach strategies, social media management, and fundraising techniques will be provided.
